'CSI: NY's' Future In Question

"CSI: NY," the long-running spinoff of CBS's successful "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," was left out in the cold when CBS renewed 18 of its primetime offerings early. However, fans will be "satisfied" if the upcoming Season 8 finale had to serve as a series finale, according to "CSI: NY" boss Pam Veasey.

Veasey told E! Online that the finale will revolve around Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) and how the characters related to him, "how he's a father, a brother, a friend, a boss, a godfather to all of these people," Veasey said. "And how each of the characters individual lives relate to his, how he needed them, how they needed him."

Both "CSI: NY" and "CSI: Miami" are in danger of being canceled by CBS. EW also predicts that "Gary Sinise and company [will say] goodbye this spring," while the mothership "CSI" series was renewed in March 2012.

"This large-scale renewal is testimony to the strength, stability and success of a deep and diverse roster of top-rated programming," Nina Tassler, president of CBS Entertainment, said in a statement announcing the renewals. "It positions us for continued success next season and certainly creates an environment that will give our new shows the best possible chance to succeed."

If "CSI: NY" gets the greenlight for Season 9, Veasey said the show will follow its characters out of the lab.

"I think our finale dictates really going home with them in another season and really expanding beyond the job," she said. "Eight seasons on a show is a great run, but I'm greedy and want more."

For more on the "CSI: NY" finale, click over to E! Online.

Find out more renewal/cancellation chances in the slideshow below.

Laura Prudom: 'American Idol' Recap: The Top 9 Perform Songs From Their Musical Idols

After weeks of tackling dated songs (and generally performing them poorly) all it took to give "American Idol" a shot of adrenaline was to allow the contestants to sing songs from their own musical idols. Finally, no more trying to fit their voices to Billy Joel's style, or forcing them to sing Stevie Wonder when all they want to do is Dave Matthews. This week saw most of the finalists truly bringing their A-game, resulting in an eclectic array of musical choices that actually offered some modicum of entertainment value.

Unfortunately, with only 9 contestants left and two hours to fill, we were also subjected to three trio numbers -- only one of which was actually worth listening to -- but such is life, since Fox apparently remains resistant to shortening the Wednesday night show to 90 minutes.

Here's the rundown of this week's performances -- feel free to weigh in with your favorites in the comments.

Colton Dixon: "Everything" by Lifehouse
This is one of my favorite songs, so I'm certain I'm judging it a little more harshly than most, but I wasn't all that impressed with Colton's take on Lifehouse's soft, nuanced ballad. He prefaced it by telling Jimmy Iovine and mentor Stevie Nicks that it's one of his favorite worship songs, and I'm all for a performer picking songs that resonate with them or take on particular significance because of their faith, but somehow, it all seemed too calculated here. Later on in the show, Joshua Ledet would literally break down at the end of his song because of the emotional impact of the lyrics, but here, Colton seemed like he was faking that emotional connection -- repeatedly pointing at the sky and ending the performance kneeling, as if in prayer. It felt tacky and unnecessary, but that's just me. Vocally, he kept good control, though I would've liked to see him hold the notes in the chorus a little longer to give them room to breathe, since his phrasing seemed abrupt. Technically, it was fine, but to me, everything going on around the vocals felt contrived.

Naturally, the judges loved it, as they love everything Colton does, because he's a competent, inoffensive and attractive pop-rock singer who is almost certain to win the competition, since he doesn't have the less-marketable individuality that Phillip Phillips displays every week. (Randy Jackson practically said so, while somehow managing to restrain himself from uttering "in it to win it," for once.) Steven Tyler called him a judge's dream come true and insisted that he has perfect pitch (hmm), while Jennifer Lopez admitted she was "honestly moved," and Randy praised his believability.

Skylar Laine: "Gunpowder and Lead" by Miranda Lambert
Talk about tonal whiplash, to go from a song as measured and methodical as "Everything" to this. We heard Skylar sing it during the audition rounds and there wasn't anything different here; nor was it particularly distinct from some of her other live show performances, which isn't going to cut it when she's going up against powerhouses like Jessica, Joshua and Hollie. It all had a vague air of karaoke, with Skylar once again rushing through the lyrics without having time to really showcase her range, although no-one could fault her attitude or enthusiasm. But when all you can really say about a performance was that it was "energetic," there's definitely something missing.

Jennifer called it "the perfect song for you," and praised ... you guessed it, her energy; Steven called it "over the top," which I guess he meant as a compliment; and Randy called her a "great performer" and actually had the cojones to compare her to Carrie Underwood in terms of range. Hyperbole, thy name is Randy.

We were then treated to our first trio performance of the night, courtesy of the dream team of Elise, Colton and Phillip, who harmonized deliciously on a Fleetwood Mac medley. To me, Colton's rendition of "Landslide" actually had a lot more emotion and passion in it than his solo performance, and Elise knocked "Edge of 17" right out of the ballpark. Phillip couldn't quite keep up with the vocal acrobatics of his teammates on "Don't Stop," but it was an enjoyable enough mix that suited their voices.

Heejun Han: "A Song For You" by Donny Hathaway (yes, we know Leon Russell did it first)
After last week's surrealistic performance, I was half expecting Heejun to tear his clothes off again, but it appears that he's finally got the kookiness out of his system -- on stage, at least -- and wants to prove that he should stick around. He did that admirably with "A Song For You," which had a beautiful, pure tone that seemed utterly natural. His enunciation is improving and when he's pouring all his focus into the vocal, it's one of the nicest voices to listen to in the competition -- not overly showy, but impressive nonetheless.

Steven gushed that with a voice as "deep and beautiful" as Heejun's, he "[made] the song come alive in a way no-one else can." Jennifer enthused that he displayed "the most beautiful tone, the most beautiful vibrato," and Randy was just glad to see that the Heejun they selected finally came back to them.

Hollie Cavanagh: "Jesus Take The Wheel" by Carrie Underwood
Hollie seems to be pulling a Melanie Amaro and letting her British accent grow stronger every week, but in terms of performances, I actually think she's been backsliding. Her rehearsal with Stevie Nicks moved the experienced artist to tears, but I failed to feel that emotional resonance during Hollie's actual performance. I'm not sure whether the key was pitched too low for her or whether her crisp enunciation was distracting, but since I cry every single time I listen to Carrie's version -- even after all these years -- I was a little disappointed that Hollie couldn't connect for me. She seemed to miss more notes than she hit, and was holding back on the sweet, clear vocals she demonstrated with such maturity on "Reflection."

Randy opined that, although there were "a couple pitchy moments, mostly in the lower range," she did a really good job with the song. Jennifer felt connected to it emotionally, while Steven (thankfully) said that he wished she'd sang a different song, and that it was "just okay" for him. Steven Tyler as the voice of reason, who'd have thunk?

DeAndre Brackensick: "Sometimes I Cry" by Eric Benet
At this point, DeAndre is comfortable in his soulful, R&B niche and there's likely no getting him out of it, so if you like what he does, you'll be satisfied week-to-week, and if you don't, every performance will alternate between snooze-worthy and grating. I generally fall into the latter camp, although this wasn't quite as irritating as I find most of his performances. He was evidently trying to shatter some windows with his falsetto this week, but if you closed your eyes and took a couple of tequila shots, he could've passed for Prince. It's a unique sound, although I'm not sure it's terribly marketable as-is, and he sang it competently enough, so I actually had less to complain about with this performance than I did with Skylar's.

Steven offered the Prince comparison too, praising "the passion it took to do those runs," while Jennifer noted that his voice is something you don't hear every day. Randy was glad he's honed in on who he wants to be as an artist, calling it "beautiful."

Jessica Sanchez: "Sweet Dreams" by Beyoncé
At this point, I agree with the judges -- the girl is beyond critique. She's confident in her notes, capable of pulling off dazzling runs, knows exactly the right amount of vibrato to use, and has a crystal clarity to her voice. And yet, the judges gave standing ovations to DeAndre and Heejun, but not Jessica -- I think they've started to take her talent for granted, perhaps because they know that a guy's going to win this whole thing. I think Jessica's major problem is the same as Pia's last season: she doesn't really have a personality. She can sing the hell out of a song, belting like Mariah or Whitney, but she's lacking the stage presence and charisma of someone like Elise or Phillip, and I think that's her biggest obstacle right now (aside from her ladyparts). I would love to see her win the competition, as a true testament to talent, but the judges repeatedly hammer home that they're looking for the whole package, and as "teachable" as Jessica might be in rehearsals, I think she needs a few more years and a few hard knocks before she's ready to graduate to superstar status. Still, she was the most technically accomplished of the night, hands down.

Our second trio performance was a Michael Jackson medley, courtesy of Joshua, Heejun and DeAndre (racial profiling, much?), who, as expected, didn't gel so well together. "Hot mess" pretty much sums it up.

Phillip Phillips: "Still Raining" by Johnny Lang
As I've mentioned before, Phillip's style isn't something I'd willingly choose to listen to if I was buying an album, but I know there are plenty out there who dig his graveled, bluesy vibe, and he does what he does very well. He seemed to be more engaged with this performance than some of his previous appearances, and you could tell from his expression that he was straight-up enjoying the song. That enthusiasm was infectious (and something missing from a number of other performances this week) and I respect his authenticity and his determination to follow his own path.

"You make everything go away and we're just riding the rhythm," Jennifer enthused, noting that he always makes them feel the music and forget they're judging (too easy). "Every song you sing, you own," Steven agreed, while Randy jumped straight to the "I love you," telling him that he loves who Phillip is as an artist and that he has big things ahead of him.

Joshua Ledet: "Without You" by Mariah Carey
Jimmy Iovine called this one of the five most challenging songs anyone could possibly attempt, and with good reason, but Joshua nailed it. He made it look effortless, laying on the vibrato thick but not overdoing it too much -- until the second chorus, at least, when he threw in everything but the kitchen sink, with wild runs and belting high notes that pretty much epitomize the overused phrase, "he took us to church." It had that emotional connection that Hollie and Colton were missing, since Joshua actually broke towards the end of the song, finishing with tears in his eyes. He, like Jessica, often tries too hard, but that's not always a bad thing. Yes, I got goosies.

"When you have a voice this big, you need to sing big songs," Randy said reasonably, before calling it "flawless." Steven agreed that it was beautiful, while Jennifer was almost verklempt, calling him a "phenom," "an absolute angel from heaven," and that his voice was "God sent."

Hollie, Skylar and Jessica then teamed up for a Madonna medley, which was generally forgettable, despite the talent in the trio, although they were far better than the bumbling Michael Jackson team who preceded them.

Elise Testone: "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin
The producers truly did save the best for last this week, because even though Jessica and Joshua pulled out the most technically proficient performances, no-one can sing Zeppelin, let alone with all the swagger and growl that Elise put into this rousing rendition. She ate the song up, prowling around the stage like a star and snarling, wailing and roaring her way through the choruses like a bona fide rock star. Female rockers have a poor track record on the show, and because Elise is slightly older and a woman, I'm sure the majority of the "Idol" audience doesn't "get" her, but that doesn't alter the passion and power she brought to this performance.

After another standing ovation, Steven validated her (since he's the only qualified rocker on the panel) by insisting, "nobody can pull that song off -- you made Robert Plant proud." Jennifer agreed, "that was some real rock star stuff, that was crazy," while Randy praised her performance too, saying, "that's the hardest song in the world to sing, congrats!"

Who do you think were the best and worst performers of the night, and who do you think will go home this week? Weigh in below!

Joe Capobianco: The Evolution of Tattoo Art

While it's not entirely known what spurred early man to tattoo their bodies, we do know that the proof of tattoos dates way back to frozen tribesmen and ancient mummies. Mankind has always seemed to have some need, or love, of the tattoo art form.

Many cultures throughout the ages have used hand-poked tattoo techniques for their religious and tribal beliefs. Certain tribes in Somoa and Borneo use tattooing as a rite of passage for the individual to this day, honoring all of the ceremony and tools of their history. In Japan, a few master tattooers still use tools whose conception is nearly as old as the myths and legends of the stories and characters they portray on the skin of their clients old and young. Both of these ancient styles are even being handed down and used by a few of the newer generation of tattooist today.

When tattooing moved from the ancient world to Europe and the United States, the age of electric tattooing was born. Tattooing was most popular in the ranks of the military where many a solider, sailor, or pilot found themselves marking their skin to commemorate that time in their lives with a USMC badge, a battleship, a hula gal, or a nautical star. While the imagery was perhaps not as rich in historical imagery or as personal as one's family or tribal lineage, the images being depicted by the new-age tattooer still held true historical and artistic merit. Many of these "old school" designs and styles are some of the most popular of today's tattoo culture. As the years progressed, so did the types of clients sitting in the tattooist's chair.

Back in the day the street shop was far from being in the everyday common environment. Street shops back then usually attracted what society at the time would call a "less than classy" clientele. Still many different types and classes of people gravitated toward getting tattooed. Again, as the times changed, so did the shops. Along with the shops came an even more diversified group of artists and clients. We saw much of the youth starting to get tattoos as a way of rebelling against society, and many more as the years progressed as a form of following the trends of a modern culture. Many found themselves getting tattooed simply for the love of the art.

I find myself identifying with the latter. Unlike some of my younger, more adventurous clientele of today, I didn't get my first tattoo till the age of 21. It was only two short years later that I went from human canvas to tattooist. And I can honestly say, like my skin, becoming a tattooist changed my life.

2012-03-23-joeimage.JPG

Many of my clients today range in the ages of 18-65. Several come to me to mark a period in their life or to remember a loved one. To many it is the truest and most personal of keepsakes. But for many others it is just a way to adorn their body in the way that they see fit. Unlike the heavily tattooed woman of the late 1800s to even the mid '80s, my female clientele of today find themselves in a more open-minded society that seems to be a bit more willing to see them for who they are.

Along with a female clientele, I've also seen a huge increase in female tattooers. Women tattooers have always had a place in the history of tattooing, many being looked back upon as true pioneers in the trade. But still, for many, it was usually just being a female in what was primarily a male-dominated business. Today the amount of women tattooers is steadily on the rise and many find themselves at the forefront of the trade, making a name for themselves as some of the top and most creative in the field.

Now, even with the rise and popularity of tattooing, this is not to say that society in general all look at tattooed people with the same open-mindedness as those wearing the work, but I think the sheer number of people proudly displaying their work and the uncertainness of who may be hiding some tattoo in a not-so-prominent location keeps the non-tattooed crowd a bit more open-minded and even a bit more tolerant today.

In my experience, the people I tattoo today are in it for the long haul. I very rarely tattoo an individual just once. My clients are steadily getting bigger work and more coverage. For many lucky artists like myself, our clients have decided to make this somewhat of a lifestyle and we'll be seeing many of them for several years.

The styles of tattoo art are as diverse and unique as the individuals wearing them today. And it's my thinking that these styles will continue to grow even more diverse and creative as more young and talented artists get into the trade. That, in addition to the imaginations of our clients who continue to push our talents to create the perfect way to express themselves and their ideas.

'Jersey Shore' Phasing Out Snooki, Situation?

Can you imagine a "Jersey Shore" without Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi or Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino? Well, you better get used to it. According to TMZ, sources are saying that 495 Productions is looking to cast new house members to replace the show's biggest breakout stars.

Although 495 had no official comment, show insiders are reportedly concerned that due to Snooki's pregnancy and The Situation's current rehab stint, the MTV staple will "lose its sex-crazed alcohol-fueled edge."

Snooki confirmed her pregnancy on the cover of Us Weekly magazine in early March, though she knew she was expecting since January.

The Situation landed himself on 495's ditch list when he entered rehab several weeks ago to battle substance abuse issues.

"I want to set the record straigh," Sorrentino told website SitchNews.com. "I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion. I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys."

Although the entire cast -- including Situation and Snooki -- will appear on Season 6 of the hit series, TMZ reports that the pair will receive less screen-time than their housemates in attempts to phase them out of the show. MTV announced Monday that the sixth season will begin filming this summer.

For more details on Snooki and The Situation's fate, head over to TMZ.

'The River' Finale: Will The River Let Them Go?

Unless there was more going on than was revealed in this final hour of "The River" (Tue., 9 p.m. ET on ABC), then it seemed like a lot of filler building up to a bizarre closing scene that was supposed to be tantalizing enough to leave viewers salivating at the prospect of a second season. But with ratings dropping from 7.59 million at the premiere to just above 4 million for its penultimate installment, renewal seems a long-shot at best.

This final episode dealt primarily with the death and resurrection of Lincoln. He was shot down by Jonas and resurrected by Jahel and his mother in a weird ritual calling out to the spirit/demon of this particular river. But when Lincoln comes back, he's not quite the same, as the demon has taken hold of his body. He takes out Jonas, frames Kurt so he can threaten and beat him up in private, but gets taken down by his libido, allowing Lena to come close and then taking a swig of a drink she drugged to take him down.

From there, it's revealed that no ritual will pull the demon out. Instead, it takes Lincoln's will fighting his way out, meaning Emmet needs to reach out and say all those emotional things he's been holding back, talking about regrets from the past and hope for the future. It works and then Lincoln is free. So that's it?

Not really addressed is exactly what Emmet was hoping to find, nor the significance of Lena's birthmark -- Emmet blows her off when she tries to ask about it. But they'll apparently have plenty of time to find out as "the river" isn't done with them yet. It waited until they were nearly out of it before simply rearranging the jungle around them, as well as its own course. Will it ever let them out? Will viewers ever find out?

JR Smith Twitter Picture of Tahiry Jose

JR Smith posted a Twitter picture of Tahiry Jose and the NBA didn't approve. In fact, the NBA has fined JR Smith $25,000 for posting the picture of the nearly naked model. Scroll down to get a look at the Tahiry Jose picture JR Smith posted on Twitter that got him in trouble.

When fining JR Smith, the NBA said the picture was "inappropriate". Personally, I think it's very, very appropriate.

Twitter: An Essayist's Best Friend

The SXSW panel, "Arts Criticism 140 Characters At A Time," was led by NPR's "Monkey See" editor, Linda Holmes, New Yorker critic Emily Nussbaum, Time magazine critic James Poniewozik, and blogger Film Crit Hulk!.

The conversation between Holmes (moderator), Nussbaum, Film Crit Hulk! from Badass Digest, and Time magazine TV critic James Poniewozik revolved around how arts criticism can exist within Twitter.

Twitter is a place where people generally express extremes -- this is the greatest thing ever or the worst thing ever, or a strongly voiced "Meh," Poniewozik said.

So what works well as a discussion on Twitter?

You can find other people who are deeply engaged in the same topic, and those are valuable ways to tease out your thinking, Holmes said.

Poniewozik agrees -- it's a medium where you can test the waters. But sometimes, it may be that thing that's a really regrettable thing to express -- aka, the career-ending tweet, the tweet that could end everything in a second, Nussbaum said, noting how tempting that can be. "You feel this perverse pride when something gets massively retweeted."

On a smaller scale, Twitter can kind of be a self-check for a critic in this way, Hulk added -- a place where someone could tap you on the shoulder and say, hey, you're being ridiculous here.

The conversation steers toward how Twitter is misunderstood as a medium. Jonathan Franzen's objection to Twitter is that it's too short. But Poniewozik disagrees -- it's like saying the novel is short because it's made up of sentences. Nussbaum nods: "A tweet is a short thing, but a feed is a very long and potentially very nuanced description of what somebody is talking about."

The problem is, it's single tweets that get retweeted, Holmes said.

It's one of those give and take things, Nussbaum said, but you gain a lot from it, too. She sheepishly quotes Clive Thompson's coined phrase "ambient awareness" (sheepish, because Thompson is Nussbaum's husband), about the way in which Twitter followers start to feel each others' presence "around" them. You have an ability to sense all of the different parts of the person, in an individual tweet, which is a polished, poetic writing, but also have a link to the longer piece (people's profiles).

Poniewozik places Twitter in the line of new criticism, starting with legendary New Yorker critic Pauline Kael's revolutionary insertion of herself into her criticism.

"She probably would have killed it on Twitter," he says.

Laura Prudom: 'Nikita' Recap: Percy And Amanda Go Head To Head In 'Doublecross'

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Season 2, Episode 16 of The CW's "Nikita," entitled, "Doublecross."

"Nikita" has made a habit of coming back from its breaks with a bang, and the March 16 episode, "Doublecross," more than lived up to the promise of its title with a series of satisfying twists. It was pleasing to see the show ably maintain the momentum it established in the last few episodes, as if its month-long hiatus never happened.

Now that Percy is outside his plastic prison in Division's basement, he seems determined to cause as much chaos as possible, attempting to undermine Amanda at every turn in order to reclaim his position as head of the agency. This week, that meant assassinating Division agents and framing Gogol for the crime, which easily succeeded in sowing seeds of discontent among the ranks -- especially since Amanda went out of her way to prove the organization's innocence in order to protect her alliance with Ari.

To track Percy down and end his shenanigans, she turned to an unlikely ally, enlisting Nikita's help in exchange for long-suffering CIA analyst-turned-inmate Ryan Fletcher, who has been occupying Percy's see-through cell for the last few weeks. As Maggie Q told me in our interview this week, Nikita was well aware that she was "making a deal with two devils" in pitting Amanda against Percy, which somewhat paid off for her. She ended up with Ryan, but neither Nikita nor Amanda got to keep hold of Percy, who once again slipped through their fingers courtesy of Roan and an opportunistic Division agent.

As with a number of episodes in the latter half of this season, "Doublecross" showcased all of "Nikita's" assets in one artfully constructed package. We were treated to a delicious face-to-face showdown between Nikita and Percy; Birkoff in full snark mode (Nerd got so many excellent lines this week it was hard to keep track, but a personal favorite was his backhanded compliment to Sonja, "That is why you fail ... except at hotness, at which you succeed"); a little more exploration of the tension between Nikita and Michael; and one hell of a double-doublecross which pulled the rug out from under Carla, Percy and Amanda all at once.

Using Carla's loyalty to Percy was an ingenious way for our rogue team to track him via text, and though Percy managed to escape at the episode's climax, he was still dealt a blow thanks to the loss of his remaining Guardian, who was dispatched with great gusto by a pipe-wielding Nikita.

The real highlight of the episode, for me, was Nikita's emotional journey; Maggie Q perfectly sold her character's disbelief and tentative hope at the prospect of Ryan still being alive, and their heartfelt reunion was a beautiful reminder of Nikita's capacity for love and loyalty, whether romantic or platonic.

No matter how many people she loses or how many of her loved ones betray her, she still hasn't lost that sense of right and wrong and the desire to protect those she cares for, even if it means making deals with enemies that are certain to betray her. And in turn, that compassion inspires admirable loyalty in others, demonstrated most clearly through her relationships with Ryan and Owen -- though Nikita has undeniable chemistry with both men, they seem dedicated to her not because they think they can get into her pants, but because she's a born leader and her moral convictions bring out the best in those around her.

But Nikita's capacity for trust and forgiveness can be a double-edged sword, as Carla demonstrated in her pact with Percy. As Birkoff pointed out to Carla, "no matter how many times the people she loves let her down, she keeps on doing the right thing, 'cause it's the only thing she knows how to do," and even after Carla knowingly endangered the lives of Nikita and three men she holds dear, our heroine still mourned her loss. I can totally understand why Maggie was so affected when she watched the episode, because, as she said, it's "one of those episodes where Nikita gains something but she also, in the end, just really loses." In gaining Ryan, she lost her mentor and the only maternal figure she's ever really known, and all because Carla misguidedly believed that Division could be used for good under the right leadership. I did love Carla's final line, pointing out that Division can produce something good because it was responsible for making Nikita who she is today, but is she the exception to the rule?

Mostly, I'm just relieved that Ryan is still alive, because as much as I adore Michael, something about Ryan and his earnest, Clark Kent vibe just resonates with me. He's a guy with no formal combat training and no business being in such dangerous situations, but he chooses to stay in the fight anyway -- not because he's a trained killer like Nikita and Michael, but because he knows it's the right thing to do. A show like "Nikita" certainly benefits from having an everyman character who helps ground the fantastical situations, and I'm sure that during his time helping Amanda with her "special projects" he must've gleaned some useful information.

I'll admit, I find Amanda's decision to release Ryan so easily a little suspicious. Nikita's loyalty undoubtedly dictated that she would attempt to save her friend no matter the cost, but I wonder if he's been implanted with some kind of trigger that might prompt him to turn on her, since he's spent weeks (months?) in the hands of a master manipulator. Maybe this show just makes me paranoid, but I can't help but think there's a catch somewhere, and that Amanda had another doublecross in mind when she made the deal.

Alex's subplot was a little slower this week, but it was clearly laying necessary foundations for next week's episode, since Sean's attempt to copy Ari's hard-drive revealed a pivotal piece of information: Cassandra (who should henceforth be referred to as the Lying Liar Who Lies) is embedded with MI6 under deep cover, and is actually a Gogol assassin who is poised to take out Semak. The woman certainly has a lot of layers, but it's obvious that Michael isn't going to be too thrilled with this further deceit. It was also interesting to see Sean return in less of an anal, strait-laced capacity, and Dillon Casey seemed to be having a lot of fun with his character's more quippy demeanor as Alex's bodyguard. It's slightly bipolar, characterization-wise, but I certainly prefer this iteration of Sean.

As the curtain falls on the Carla drama, another seems to have lifted on Cassandra's most recent betrayal, and I'm intrigued to see how Michael -- and Nikita -- handle this new development and what it might mean for their relationship, since things have seemed strained between the couple for a while. I hope they'll return to solid ground soon, because I'm certainly missing the well-oiled ass-kicking machine they were at the start of the season. What did you think of "Doublecross" and the revelation about Cassandra?

"Nikita" airs Fridays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.

'I Hate My Teenage Daughter' Is As Good As Dead

"I Hate My Teenage Daughter" is as good as dead. Fox has canceled its plans to shift the critically-panned and low-rated freshman comedy about two moms and their teenage offspring, according to EW.

Instead of moving from Tuesday to Wednesdays in April, the comedy-- which only had 3.6 million viewers tune into its most recent episode-- has been shelved until the summer. Two-hour episodes of "American Idol" will make up Wednesdays instead of the previously announced 90-minute installments. A Fox representative confirmed the scheduling change.

The last episode of "I Hate My Teenage Daughter" is currently scheduled for Tues., April 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET, but Fox says they plan to air the remaining episodes in the summer.

The Huffington Post's Maureen Ryan reviewed "I Hate My Teenage Daughter" in November and said the show is "an example of writers standing outside their characters in order to heap more scorn and mockery on women who display weakness."

"I Hate My Teenage Daughter" stars Jaime Pressly as Annie Watson and Katie Finneran as Nikki Miller. The show debuted to more than 6 million viewers, but was shelved in December. It returned in March to 3.7 million viewers.

"Raising Hope" and "I Hate My Teenage Daughter" took the Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET timeslot previously occupied by "Glee." "Glee" returns to Fox on Tues., April 10 at 8 p.m. ET.

Take a look at the future of all other network shows here:

'Game Of Thrones' Premieres New Trailer: 'The More You Love'

HBO has released yet another trailer for the upcoming "Game of Thrones" Season 2, which premieres on April 1. Based on the George R.R. Martin fantasy series, "A Song of Fire and Ice," the second trailer is conveniently titled "The More You Love."

This all-new Season 2 trailer focuses on the show's many intricate relationships amongst the characters, with a special emphasis on a few of the strong women in the "Game of Thrones" universe: Lena Headey's Cersei Lannister, Emilia Clarke's Daenerys Targaryen and the two generations of Stark women as they face new challenges.

We finally get to see a glimpse Arya Stark, the fiercely independent young daughter of the late Lord Stark, but it looks like she has a ominous message: "Anyone can be killed."

"Game of Thrones" Season 2 premieres Sun., April 1 at 9 p.m. EST. The second season will consist of 10 episodes. Check out the new trailer above and the offical Season 2 still photos below. What are you most looking forward to about Season 2?
